IPFCC is seeking a strategic, passionate, and visionary President and CEO to guide our organization into its next phase of growth and impact.
We are seeking a transformational leader with deep expertise in Patient- and Family-Centered Care (PFCC) who can evolve our operational and financial models to ensure long-term sustainability. The new CEO will work collaboratively with our dedicated remote team and Board of Directors to expand partnerships, diversify revenue, and elevate IPFCC’s influence nationally and globally.

Supporting Caregivers: Insights, Partnerships,
and PFAC Perspectives
Thursday, September 3, 12-1pm EDT
The upcoming Informal Conversation, "Supporting Caregivers: Insights, Partnerships, and PFAC Perspectives," will be held on September 3rd from 12:00–1:00 PM EST. This session will highlight perspectives from caregiving Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) leaders and health system partners. Topics will include building effective caregiving support systems, real-world caregiving experiences, and collaborative community-hospital partnerships.

Quest for Quality Prize
The American Hospital Association (AHA) is accepting applications through August 18th for the 2027 Quest for Quality Prize. This prestigious prize recognizes hospitals and health systems that provide safe patient- and family-centered care, collaborate with community partners to improve population health, and lead innovation in enhancing quality and health outcomes. The winner and up to two finalists will be presented with awards at the 2027 AHA Leadership Summit, July 18-20, in San Diego.

Microgrants to Strengthen Nurse Well-being
The American Nurses Foundation is seeking applications for eight $15,000 microgrants, funded by the Covista Foundation, to strengthen nurse well-being for those working in rural communities. Patient and family advisors could partner with nurses in the development of these proposals. Proposals are due August 4, 2026

Implementing Family Engagement in a Research Program
Gillette Children’s (Gillette) is a specialty-care health system in St. Paul, Minnesota that provides lifespan care for persons living with pediatric-onset brain, bone, and movement conditions. In 2023, Gillette appointed a system-level family partnership team, called the “Blueprint Team” to implement an evidence-based Family Engagement in Research (FER) program. They used a definition of engagement in research from a systematic review and analysis as “a partnership, where patient contributions are given equal weight to those of other contributors to the research team."
Gillette’s current FER registry includes 84 lived experience partners with 42 individuals actively engaged in over 20 research projects. Six family partners are listed as authors or coinvestigators.
In the article, members of the Blueprint Team describe the key steps and process for developing and implementing substantive family engagement in research over the last three years.

AARP Expanding Support
of PFACs
AARP’s Office of Volunteer Engagement along with the Nurses On Boards Coalition are expanding their support of Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) by activating a growing network of nurse leaders who are eager to serve in volunteer advisory roles. These individuals bring deep clinical experience, a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, and a strong interest in contributing their expertise beyond the bedside. Through their PFAC-focused work, they are aiming to:
1. Strengthen the impact and effectiveness of existing PFACs
2. Support organizations interested in establishing new councils
3. Connect skilled nurse volunteers with meaningful advisory opportunities
4. Share practical approaches to elevating patient and caregiver voices in care design
To connect with nurse leader volunteers, who have indicated an interest in serving on an existing PFAC or who would like to help start a PFAC at a hospital
